Kastoria is a city in northern Greece in the region of Western Macedonia. It is situated on a promontory on the western shore of Lake Orestiada, in a valley surrounded by limestone mountains. and is also known as the furrier city. It shelters 46,668 citizens. Kastoria known for its fur production and its cultural past is certainly one of the most charming cities in Greece.

The city is the only one in Greece which preserves the Byzantium heritage with 80 churches being preserved. The number of museums, the strolls to the old neighbourhoods and the stone bridges combined with the activities in the lake which is a protected area in Natura 2000 Network and the mountains which surround the city, make Kastoria a unique destination.

The best way to enjoy the city is by taking a walk around the lake's coast. You will be impressed by the idyllic and tranquil atmosphere. Orestiada lake is the shelter to 200 species of birds, some rare and endangered. During your stroll don't forget to stop by the Dragon's Cave, home to seven underground lakes and rooms with spectacular stalactites.
